Introduction

Kinetic Vault ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard data when you use the Kinetic Vault mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Kinetic Vault is designed with a local-first, privacy-first architecture. We collect minimal data:

  • No account registration — No email, name, or personal identity is required.
  • Vault data — All photos and videos are encrypted locally on your device using AES-256 encryption.
  • Biometric data — Fingerprint/face authentication is handled entirely by your device's secure OS APIs; we never receive or store biometric data.
  • Crash logs — Anonymous, non-personal crash diagnostics may be collected to improve stability (no media or vault content is ever included).

How We Use Your Information

Any data collected is used solely to:

  • Provide and maintain core App functionality.
  • Diagnose technical issues and improve performance.
  • Comply with legal obligations if required by law.

Data Storage & Security

🔒 All vault content is encrypted with AES-256 and stored exclusively on your device. We have zero access to your files, master password, or encrypted data.

Your master password is never transmitted to any server. The encryption key is derived locally using PBKDF2 and lives only on your device. If you uninstall the app or reset your vault, all data is permanently deleted.

Third-Party Services

The App may integrate with the following third-party services:

  • Google Play Services — For app distribution and in-app billing (if applicable). Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (optional) — For anonymous crash reporting. No vault content is included.

Children's Privacy

Kinetic Vault is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data tied to your identity, most data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised directly on your device. You can delete all vault data at any time via Settings → Reset Vault.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted within the App with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Kinetic Vault ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

License Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.

User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your master password. We cannot recover it for you.
  • Backing up your vault data. We are not liable for data loss due to device failure, uninstallation, or forgotten passwords.
  • Ensuring all content you store in the vault is legally owned by you or used with proper authorization.
  • Complying with all applicable local, national, and international laws.

Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to use the App to:

  • Store, share, or distribute illegal content including but not limited to child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App.
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations.
  • Attempt to circumvent or break the App's encryption or security mechanisms.
⚠️ Violation of the prohibited uses section may result in immediate termination of your license and may be reported to relevant authorities.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, trademarks, and branding, is owned by Kinetic Vault and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any IP rights to you.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kinetic Vault shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the App.

Our total liability for any claims related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kinetic Vault and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the App, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your license at our sole discretion, without notice, if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App. All provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in competent courts of the jurisdiction where the developer is based.

Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted in the App with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance.
